San Francisco Bay from Page Mill Rd.

This short video was taken at a stop during my descent after cycling up Page Mill Rd. in Palo Alto, California. The day was hot, but beautifully clear. The video shows the San Francisco Bay in the background looking towards Palo Alto and Mountain View.

Ducks flying at Sunset

I took this photograph on March 24, 2005 at full zoom (300mm*1.5 crop factor) on my D70 handheld (no VR) sweeping the lens to follow the ducks.

I didn't really have time to think. I shot twice and managed to capture this great backlit effect on the ducks' wings.

This photo was taken during the anniversary of the founding of St. Petersburg in Russia. It was a festive atmosphere with thousands of people walking on the famous Nevsky Prospect. These girls were walking past me and I asked if I could photograph them. They stopped for a moment and here's the photo.

These photos are from hikes that my wife and I took in Yosemite in April 2012. The changeable weather made for wonderful contrasts. I tried a bit of the "Ansel Adams" effect on a couple of them. What an amazing and inspiring photographer he was, not just in composition, but in processing them to get the light just right.
